Shane Black
Shane Black
I'm Shane Brennan Black, a communication professional who believes in the power of thoughtful storytelling to shape understanding, build community, and spark growth. With experience across higher education, digital media, and freelance platforms, I've written for institutional homepages, led newsletter strategies, interviewed scholars and athletes, and co-hosted shows across audio and video mediums.
Whether I'm writing feature stories at Princeton, creating content for Seton Hall’s Center for Sports Media, or launching my Substack newsletter, Mindful Momentum, my goal remains the same: to cut through the noise and connect people with ideas that matter.
Here, you’ll find a selection of my work, from editorial writing and multimedia projects to web design and strategic campaigns. Each project reflects my belief in human-centered messaging and the role of clear, honest communication in helping people find their place.
Take a look around. And if something resonates, let’s talk.

Mindful Momentum
Mindful Momentum grew out of a personal search for clarity and meaning. It’s a place where centuries-old wisdom meets modern research, where deep ideas become practical tools, and where reflection is essential. I wanted to create something honest and useful; a twice-weekly newsletter that cuts through the noise and offers thoughtful, actionable insights on how to live and lead with intention.
It's Time to Listen
“All men’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quiet in a room alone.” — Blaise Pascal
Slow Down
“The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.” — Bertrand Russell
Life and Death
“All say, How hard it is we have to die,-a strange complaint to come from the mouths of people who have had to live.” — Mark Twain

Princeton University
Deans of the Faculty Project
This past summer, I was entrusted with the responsibility of developing biographies for all 17 deans in the 141-year history of the Office of the Dean of the Faculty at Princeton University. Utilizing extensive archival research and conducting interviews, I crafted 300–400-word bios that effectively convey the significance of these transformative leaders.
